The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) at Indiana Tech is a student-led organization dedicated to supporting the academic, professional, and personal success of Black and underrepresented students in STEM. Our mission aligns with the national organization’s vision—to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.
Our chapter provides a supportive network and hosts a variety of programs including study tables, professional development workshops, community service events, and networking opportunities with industry leaders. We also participate in regional and national conferences that help our members build leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and represent Indiana Tech on a national stage.
Through education, service, and leadership, our chapter empowers members to not only achieve their goals but also to uplift and inspire others along the way.
Our Story
The Indiana Tech Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers was chartered in 2005, marking the beginning of a lasting legacy of excellence, unity, and empowerment. What began as a small group of passionate students has evolved into a thriving organization that continues to impact the Indiana Tech community and beyond.
Since our founding, we’ve worked to uphold NSBE’s mission by creating spaces where students can grow academically and professionally while giving back to the community. Over the years, our chapter has hosted successful events such as annual banquets celebrating Black excellence in engineering, regional conference trips, study sessions, and community service initiatives that strengthen our presence on and off campus.
From our early beginnings to our current achievements, our chapter’s story is one of perseverance, collaboration, and leadership. As we continue to grow, we honor the vision that started in 2005—empowering future generations of engineers to lead with purpose and make a difference in the world.
